Independent validation: pending
Independent Validation Roadmap
A public plan for moving manufacturer-reported lighting measurements toward transparent, reproducible review by independent research and testing partners.
01 · Where things stand
Current test status
Nano Grow Light reports internal reflectance, spectral, PPFD, and thermal measurements for its reflector system. The published figures are manufacturer-reported and have not been independently validated. The technical specification sheet records a 24°C, 55% RH chamber, Philips MasterColor 250W / 830 CMH lamp, and fixture heights of 12, 18, and 24 inches. It lists numerical PPFD, reflectance, spectral, and thermal results.
The published internal test setup lists an Apogee MQ-610, Ocean Optics USB4000, and FLIR E6. The spec sheet records 24°C, 55% RH, Philips MasterColor 250W / 830 CMH, and 12, 18, and 24 inch fixture heights. Reported measurements cover PPFD, reflectance, spectral, and thermal values. Read the technical spec sheet.
No university study or third-party laboratory engagement is confirmed on this page as of October 30, 2026.
The technical overview lists raw-data availability. Downloadable files, calibration records, and complete test conditions will be linked here when assembled and cleared for release.
Evidence status: figures currently published by Nano Grow Light describe internal testing. They should not be read as third-party findings, university results, or a guarantee of plant performance.
02 · Academic collaboration
Planned university testing
Proposed scope
Seek a university partner with expertise in controlled-environment horticulture, plant physiology, or optical measurement. A study could examine both light delivery and plant response under a defined growing protocol.
- Agree on crop, cultivar, sample size, and study endpoints before testing.
- Use randomized placement, repeated measurements, and a documented comparison setup.
- Report growth and harvest outcomes with environmental conditions and uncertainty.
Current status
University testing is a proposed next step. A partner, protocol, funding arrangement, and study dates have not been announced.
Any future study will be described here with the institution’s role, protocol, authorship, and publication terms once mutually confirmed.
03 · Measurement independence
Planned third-party laboratory testing
Proposed optical and thermal work
- Spectral reflectance across the agreed wavelength range, using a documented reference and measurement geometry.
- PPFD maps at specified fixture heights, with a published grid, sensor orientation, and averaging procedure.
- Thermal measurements after a defined warm-up period, with ambient conditions and camera settings recorded.
- Comparison against an explicitly identified control reflector under matched conditions.
Current status
Independent laboratory testing is planned but has not been documented as commissioned or scheduled. Test claims and reference conditions will be finalized with the selected lab before measurements begin.
Where practical, samples will be coded and the analysis plan agreed before results are reviewed.
04 · Reproducible process
Methodology
The existing specification sheet documents the in-house instruments, 24°C and 55% RH test environment, Philips MasterColor 250W / 830 CMH lamp, tested heights of 12, 18, and 24 inches, and reported PPFD, reflectance, spectral, and thermal results. The protocol for independent work will be agreed with partners before testing. Each report is expected to add the calibration dates, sample counts, repeat runs, uncertainty analysis, control configuration, and complete raw tables needed for replication.
Before testing
- Identify fixture, lamp or LED source, reflector sample, control material, and sample count.
- Publish instrument models, serial numbers where appropriate, calibration dates, and operating settings.
- Specify warm-up, distance, orientation, ambient temperature, humidity, and other environmental controls.
- Define the number of fixtures, independent runs, measurement points, and exclusion rules in advance.
During and after testing
- Use a repeatable measurement map and preserve unprocessed instrument output.
- Report individual readings, mean, spread, uncertainty, and confidence intervals where applicable.
- Document analysis steps, software or calculations, deviations, and limitations.
- Publish protocol, raw tables, calibration documentation, and a data dictionary alongside the report when permitted.
Plant trials will be reported separately from optical tests. They will specify cultivar, seed lot, growing medium, nutrients, photoperiod, daily light integral where measured, environmental settings, replication, and harvest metrics.
05 · Public updates
Future publication schedule
The schedule below is a proposed target, not a booked testing calendar. Dates depend on partner availability, funding, protocol agreement, and laboratory capacity.
| Target window | Milestone | Planned public update |
|---|---|---|
| Q4 2026 | Prepare protocol outline and partner selection criteria. | Post the scope, required controls, and documentation checklist by December 31, 2026. |
| Q1 2027 | Seek university and independent laboratory partners; refine the protocol. | Publish confirmed partner details and a revised schedule if engagements are agreed, by March 31, 2027. |
| Q2 2027 | Target window for independent optical and thermal measurements, subject to commissioning. | Post a progress note by June 30, 2027, including any schedule changes. |
| Q3 2027 | Target window for analysis and report preparation. | Publish the final report and supporting data within 30 days of receiving and clearing the completed report, if testing proceeds on schedule. |
Update cadence: this roadmap will be reviewed quarterly. If a milestone shifts or a partner is not secured, the page will state that change rather than imply testing is underway.
