Like other HID (high-intensity discharge) lighting, this bulb takes a few minutes to reach full brightness after being switched on, and needs a short cool-down period before it can be restarted if turned off. This is normal behavior for this lamp type, not a defect.
The Nano Liquid Photonic Coating on the reflector and bulb is designed to increase reflectance and help direct more light toward the plant canopy rather than scattering it. According to manufacturer-reported internal testing, five years of testing comparing a coated reflector with an uncoated CMH reflector showed a 34% increase in vegetative biomass and 19% faster time to harvest.
